What Is ATL (All-Time Low)?
Also known as: All-Time Low, ATL, Record Low
In short
ATL (All-Time Low) is the lowest price level a cryptocurrency or any other asset has seen since it began trading. When the price falls below the previous lowest level, it is said to have set a new ATL.
For established assets, the ATL usually dates from the first period they started trading. For example, Bitcoin's lowest prices were seen in its early years, when the coin had almost no market value and only a few enthusiasts were interested. For newly launched tokens, the ATL can occur in the waves of selling that follow listing or in long bear markets.
A token continually setting new ATLs can point to causes such as weak demand, supply pressure from token unlocks, abandonment of the project or loss of confidence. Although some investors view assets near their ATL as cheap, a falling price is not in itself an indicator of value; the reason for the decline needs to be investigated.
Data sites show the ATL along with the percentage by which the current price is above this bottom. ATL and ATH together are used to understand an asset's historical price range and volatility. For tokens that have suffered a rug pull or a project collapse, the ATL is often a value close to zero.
